BNHA BELONGS TO HORIKOSHI KOHEI AND HE CAN DO WHATEVER HE WANTS WITH IT

STOP THIS TOXICITY PEOPLE. It’s his own story and I think he’s actually handling the redemption arc well. The Todoroki’s aren’t forgiving Endeavor and accepting his as a dad, and neither is the fandom. We just like the fact that Endeavor has realized his mistakes and he’s willing to change!

I don’t usually do this but, if you think Horikoshi is an evil abuse apologist that deserves to die, please UNFOLLOW ME~

Seriously though. This is a really amazing arc to see and Horikoshi is doing an amazing job of pacing this and using symbolism and tone. Writing an extremely flawed and complex character that is seeing his mistakes and is struggling to change does not make him an apologist for that kind of behavior. It’s good writing.

Endeavor is symbolically being marked by what he did in the past (wound to his eye and side to match his son’s scar and the scar of the man he wanted his son to surpass on his behalf). That tells us that what he did in the past can’t be changed. It marks him, it will follow him for the rest of his life. But what he does going forward can change.

Do these folks *want* him to remain the same manipulative abusive asshole and hurt his family more? No? Then what you want is for him to improve his character so he no longer does any more damage. This is characterization and character development. This could help give that family closure knowing that the damage is going to end so they can properly heal.

And Shouto Todoroki wants to believe that change now. He didn’t believe him before because all he had was words. He hasn’t forgiven him, but him saying “I’m watching” is like him saying “okay, prove it. Prove you want to be a decent hero.” Not even a decent father. Just proof that he can change in a high stakes battle that could swing the public toward maybe feeling safe again after the loss of All Might.

And Endeavor isn’t done paying for his past. Dabi’s appearance makes that *very* clear. (I need to hurry up and write my meta post because this supports it and I want to get it posted before next issue.)
