Don’t worry, guys. Carl is clearly a brachiosaurus, which lived during the Jurassic period. (And before anyone says our lil’ boy Steve is a velociraptor and therefore puts our comic in the late cretaceous, aka the time of the comet–that lil guy could easily be a compsognathus or a caudipteryx, both Jurassic-era species of small theropod dinosaurs. So the light getting bigger every night is going to pass by harmlessly, and Steve and Carl can go on enjoying the stars together until they die of old age, since Carl has very few natural predators at his size and I bet he’ll protect Steve, if he needs it (though small, fast and carnivorous as Steve is, he probably won’t).
So it’s all good!!
That entire response explaining how these two characters didn’t die a fiery death but instead lived long and happy lives literally made my day.
So a few years ago I was at the vet’s office waiting to pick up my dog from some routine something or other. I was the only person in the waiting room at first, but after awhile a mid 30’s woman comes in with a young boy, probably 5 or 6 years old.
For whatever reason, in a totally empty waiting room, they come and sit very close to me, over in the corner in a little alcove or whatever near a table with a bunch of magazines and coloring books on it. Before anyone says “well no shit they came and sat near the coloring books”, there was more than one table like this in that waiting room.
Altaïr is an ass when sick. Altaïr won’t listen to you and won’t stop working on his journals even though he can’t even stand up right — often doodling and writing over a wooden support tucked in the bed. He’s a difficult patient, always refusing to take his medicine and saying that he’s not sick. His stuffy nose makes him talk funny, and keeps running, which is the most annoying bit of the cold for him. Altaïr tends to brat about anything, he complains about not tasting anything — usually he says that it’s bad, even though he can’t taste it —, when you won’t let him take a walk out of the bedroom or to the library. He tends to get really moody about the weather, often complaining that it’s too cold and 5 minutes later shoving the blanket and stating that it’s “too damn hot”. Due to his busy schedule, Altaïr doesn’t sleep much, so you have to persuade him to take naps — which involves him clinging onto you while you play with his hair and telling him what you did during the day. He’s not really paying full attention, as he only hums and grunts in response until your voice puts him to sleep.
